Speaking at the Published Accounts Awards, the Chairman of Chartered Accountants Leinster Society, Lorna Larkin said that the Annual Report is more than merely a regulatory requirement document.
"There is no other single document produced by an entity which carries this level of multiple responsibilities in addition to ensuring it complies to meet ever-more demanding regulatory requirements. In an era of an instant information, the Annual Report maintains its position as being critically relevant and strategically important. I would urge every entity to constantly challenge themselves to produce an Annual Report that addresses the needs of its diverse range of stakeholders in a clear and concise manner, without heavy use of technical terms," she said.
Orla O’Gorman, Head of Equity Listings Ireland at Euronext Dublin, said that Euronext is a proud sponsor of these awards that recognises excellence in financial reporting.
"The annual report is one of the most powerful communication tools that a company has in order to communicate its financial performance, strategy and corporate governance to stakeholders. Companies should be embracing digitisation in order to increase their audiences and engage directly with them by making their annual reports more dynamic and interactive. In particular, we were delighted to have the best digital award again this year to reward achievement in this increasingly important area,” she said.
